Inspiration..and FAMILY

http://bangordailynews.com/2012/03/09/business/bucksport-man-ranks-no-4-on-forbes-ceo-list/

Back in 2012, my uncle was ranked top 10 on Forbes most powerful CEO's under the age of 40. I saw the article pop up on my Facebook last night. I figured this could be a good thing to blog about. Growing up, I guess I never realized how successful he was, he's always been "Uncle Andy". Then I saw him in Forbes, and saw him on TV being interviewed and I realized! He still to me is Uncle Andy no matter what. He's family and we've always been close with my aunt, uncle and cousins, when they moved we'd visit them in North Carolina, Ohio, Wisconsin & Illinois. When he came to speak at the high school my Freshman year, he brought tears to my eyes while he was speaking.
Whenever they come home it's always so exciting. We spend summer days down on the lake, he drives the boat as my cousins and I are on the tube. They also come home for Christmas and sometimes Thanksgiving. They're like my second parents, and my cousins are just like siblings. I'm constantly in touch with them, whether it's asking my Aunt Shelby what necklace looks better with my outfit, or venting to her about life, or snap chatting my younger cousin!
Uncle Andy is speaking at graduation, and I'm so happy that he is. I asked him if he had any idea what he was going to say, and he told me he's just going to wing it! I'm so excited to hear what he's going to talk about.
It's amazing how much he's taught me. He's taught me to not take every little thing so personally, mostly because honestly if I'm going to college next year...I need to toughen up. He's taught me to go for exactly what I want, and not to do something just because that's what everyone else is doing. Choosing to go to Lake Forest is exactly what I want, and I'm so excited to experience so much more. Because honestly there's so much more out there in the world that I haven't seen. He's taught me not to be so intimated by such small things..or small things that may seem so big. I'm so inspired by how hard he works and how smart he is, but not only that, but because of how great of a person he is.
